Our company is growing rapidly, and we are seeking an energetic, honest and customer-oriented Handyman / General Maintenance Technician to be part of such an exciting growth phase! We are looking for a versatile individual with manual skills who can perform several general facility maintenance tasks in the commercial and residential buildings we service. This position offers flexibility, variety and a positive working environment! 

OneContact IFS is a facility-maintenance multi-trade company providing repair, maintenance, renovation and tenant-improvement services for multi-location clients. We require an efficient and motivated person to undertake a variety of maintenance tasks. These preventive and routine tasks mainly include: Light electrical, plumbing and carpentry; drywall repair, painting, lighting, flooring, locksmith and other services as required.

To be successful in this role you will need solid integrity, strong organizational and communication skills; as well as be a self-starter and a creative problem solver. At least two years of related experience in most of the above trade qualifications is highly desirable. Professional appearance is required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to pre-approved work orders and to ensure their satisfactory and effective completion
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance jobs and repairs in accordance with approved practices, procedures and financial limitations
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on plumbing and electrical systems, and small appliances
  • Help maintain all assigned buildings, suites, equipment and grounds
  • Respond to maintenance-related emergencies with flexibility and initiative
  • Maintain all utility rooms in a clean and orderly condition
  • Maintain a keen eye on fire and life, and safety systems; and inform property manager as needed
  • Visit properties periodically to perform site inspections, complete checklists and promptly 
  • Prepare site visit inspection reports

Essential Requirements:

  • Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision, or as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize work and adhere to maintenance schedules
  • Highly organized and able to work under pressure
  • Ability to undertake a wide variety of maintenance- and repair-related tasks upon request (E.g., door and baseboard installation, power washing, furniture assembly, minor snow removal, etc.)
  • Willing and able to go on on-call list for occasional evening and weekend coverage, and attend to after-hour building emergencies
  • Ability to enhance positive relationships with residents, commercial tenants and vendors
  • Must be able to keep a detailed log book for future reference
  • Ability to consistently complete assigned work in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ability to adhere to building codes and Health & Safety specifications; and follow client's policies and procedures
  • Possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Communicate with dispatcher for assignments, and timely update work-order management system
  • Ability to follow oral and written English instructions
  • Possess basic computer skills, working knowledge of hand and power tools, and power equipment operations

  • Transportation: Own reliable vehicle
  • Own basic hand and power tools, and smart phone
  • Valid Alberta Drivers License
  • Weight Handling Capacity: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, bending, kneeling and squatting
